‘Dash’ Bar “ - ”

What is this? A ‘dash’ bar? Some call it a ‘hyphen’ bar. In this letter, it is a ‘dash’ bar. Dash: a sprint to a finish line; dash, signifying a break or a time between two points; and dash, the omission of things said between two words or groups of words in a sentence.

I was sent an email by a friend a couple of months ago telling me about one meaning of this dash bar. He told me this dash bar was the time between a person’s birth and this person’s death. The two dates, one on either side of this dash bar told us the time of this person’s birth and the time of this person’s death; but, the dash bar was the most important message of this notice. What transpired during the time of this dash bar meant to this person more than any end or beginning time stated in one’s obituary.

Take a moment or two and visualize what this dash bar will say to your family and friends when reading your obituary! What will they see? Or, most importantly, what will it mean to them, if anything? What a man does between birth and death will reap God’s vengeance or rewards upon His judgment. God, the lost Entity in this world today, will have the last say upon individual man.

Man does not believe nor does he know the Words of God nor does man know of God nor does man desire to meet and know Him. With man in this state, this dash bar means absolutely nothing to him, nor does it mean anything to those who read and/or hear about his demise.

Man must believe that his dash bar will have a closing date to it some day. Man must believe, what occurs during the time of his dash bar is no fluke, and that what and how man lived his or her life during this time determines God’s wrath or rewards. As this dash bar grows longer and longer between man’s two ends, it is still but just a vapor in God’s planned time for our lives. Oh, … God does have a plan for each and every man, woman and child ever born to mortal parents; even so, to His Son, Christ Jesus, born of woman. He was born to DIE. But, of course man does not believe in God and His promises any longer ….. !

This small insignificant dash bar, probably not longer than an eighth of an inch, will be the reason of your glorious life in heaven or your miserable being and existence in hell.

Scriptures are bouncing around in my head to verify all that I have written in word as to the Words of God and His plan for individual man. But, will or would it do any good writing them all here? To lost man, who has no faith in anyone except himself in getting him through life and his dash bar, is there need to tell him again, when he is tired of hearing all this and just wants to be left alone living his life the way he has planned, and not by Someone’s plan he does not know nor can see nor can hear? To them, this dash bar only means a line put there to take up the space between birth and death. That he lived and died, so what?

From 1946 to 1991, I lived with my dash bar meaning much the same way as the above scenario. I had bits and pieces of God in my thoughts and I lived most of my life, clean and up-standing. I was in control and I was doing a pretty good job of it also; but in 1991, as things started to unravel in my life and take a downward slide, I was awakened to a new revelation. Man can not lead man to this revelation of an awe-inspiring God, man must be fed the word of God by man, and again as scripture says, man must be fed the Word of God and He will water the seedling, you, and make it grow and flourish and start living the plan for you in which God planned for you, before time began, on the back side of God’s dash bar. Man must hear the Word the of God; then faith arrives as he hears the Words of God; and then, man will grow in faith and become the vessel God intended you to be.

Oh … this small dash bar; the meaning of which can be so insignificant to man or it can be as great as the future of mankind, one man at a time. What will be the meaning of your dash bar to those that read about your dash bar? I pray that when your dash bar comes, you will have had your revelation and had been watered and flourished to have grown into a mighty man of God and being what God created you to be at the beginning of this, His dash bar!!!

Dash, this bar signifies your existence on earth. What you do with it is of your own choosing. No one else is the cause of your decision. Your dash signifies your life! Someone’s dash bar will take a microscope to read all that he has accomplished or did not accomplish in his life on earth. Someone’s dash will mean just a race to their own end! Do you know what your dash bar will have to say? Ever since 1991 when this new revelation entered my being, I have been adding Godly things to my dash bar; while every once in a while, sliding away and having to ask for forgiveness from my forgiving God. Without the love and the forgiving powers of God, man would be forever riding upon his dash bar and never able to seek forgiveness of his sins.

As my dash bar continues to lengthen, I seek only what God would have me to do and how He would have me do it. My dash bar, now is a straight line, with bumps and curves, ruts and ridges being smoothed out for me by my God. Temptations are abundant, dreams are vivid and appear real and the road is always cushioned for me on my path, of my plan, by God. Knowing, by faith and with the Words of God, that He is with me and taking care of me as I go on my travel through the times of my dash bar, I can be at ease within myself and go with Him, just for the ride.

Let the readers of your dash bar smile with glee or let them realize something greater, as their self’s own control, was in control of your dash bar. Let the date of your final breath on your dash bar’s journey be the beginning of someone’s own personal journey’s dash bar toward their unknown god, not known to them as of yet, and let their need for their God, their Creator, fill them with their own personal needs needed for their own dash bar’s journey.

My journey has taken many, many roads with minor bumps, bruises, scratches and knots on my head; but, my journey is still on the even keel toward God’s plan for me. Do I slip? Do I slide? Do I fall? Do I regret? I do all of the above- mentioned; but, through my God, I am a believer by faith, knowing that I have a promise by my God that all is well and all will continue to be well in my dash bar’s journey toward heaven. Without faith, there is nothing to hope for, in the far off. I believe by faith, there is more to my life than what is right before me, in a one dimensional time frame. There would be no dreams in a one dimensional time-frame. There would be no tomorrows in a one dimensional time period.

There would be no God in a one dimensional time period!

Dreams, in a more than one dimensional time period, play an important role in man’s development as man. The character of a man is grown by his dreams and formed by his actions to his dreams. A man may live the life of his dreams and go straight to hell or a man may not live by the actions of his dreams and reason with reasoning’s from God the reason of his dreams. The fervor of a dream allows the beholder of this dream, the right and knowledge of understanding his or her dream, instead of just living out his or her dream . Dreams are figments of man’s imagination, placed in man’s inner id by a force aimed at dominating man’s actions. The ability of man to reason these things out before actions are, or can be taken, is the ability by God given to man, which separates man from beast.

In my dreams last night, I was driving my car with my children in the back seat. Driving down a city street about dusk, I saw a man standing in the middle of the road. As I approached this person, I saw him draw and aim a pistol at me. As I approached this man in the street, he fired. I felt a resounding thud with a deadening shuttering feeling within my body. As I lived this moment in my dream and as I pulled off the side of the road, I told one of my kids to call his momma. I remember no more! Was my dash bar’s time expired or is my dash bar’s time about to expire by an instant’s transaction, with no warnings or foreknowledge. Man’s end to his dash bar’s finale are with no warnings and no chance for man to hurry his prayers of forgiveness of the ways of his life he has lived. The road to heaven, with and by your faith, is coming in an instant, will you be ready? As I remember no more, I woke from my sleep.

When I went back to sleep, I started dreaming again. This time I was witnessing, in my dreams, 12 to 14 years later, my wife. Her life had not been an easy journey these past 12 to 14 years. I woke up again and did not go back to sleep any more this night’s morning. Dash bars, they can and will leave everlasting affects on your family and friends; not counting the life you will live if your life’s dash bar was not with God’s plans for you.

How can I write this? My life was given to God as His witness of these things in my life: not just the good things!!! “And we are His witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey Him.” Acts of the Apostles 5:32.

As I know this was just a dream used by God for another witness, and one cannot come back to the living after death, I have the knowledge that if this would happen now, that my wife would be in the hands of the Lord, and her life would not be sad nor bad. Her life, her dash’s bar, will be filled with glory and life and the everlasting promise God has made to all of His children—peace, love and one dash bar per person at a time. This is not a group plan and one does not have to do what the others are doing. Your dash bar is all yours. No one else lives your dash bar’s life. Only you!
